Custom Jewelry Price Comparison

We strongly advise all custom jewelry buyers to look at the entire purchase amount and not just the "starting at" price of custom jewelry. Often you will find that as you invest your time and become emotionally attached the to jewelry you are customizing, the custom jewelry price seems to creep up higher and higher.

On November 5, 2008  we tested some custom jewelry designers with top Google, MSN and Yahoo page rankings. These custom jewelry companies were listed on the first page or in the top ten of the custom jewelry searches.  In our custom jewelry price study, we compared message bracelets created with identical materials. Here is the result of our study. We don't want to embarrass the other designers in the study, so we are not listing their company names in the report. Contact us for a full copy of the custom jewelry designer 2008 custom jewelry price report.

Beware of the hidden costs and compare actual prices for custom jewelry

Custom Jewelry Buying Step 1: Test the "Final" Price with "One Silver Charm"

Place a sample custom bracelet into the shopping cart, any item, just to see the actual price. Don't be attached to the look of this custom jewelry, just test out the price to see if you want to shop further.

Custom Jewelry Buying Step 2: Test the "Size and Clasp" Price

Click through the personalization or customization options and observe any extra costs. Some custom jewelry designers charge more if the bracelet is a large size. Some custom jewelry designers charge more for a decorate toggle clasp (a $5-10 value) and will give you the cheap lobster clasp for free ($0.96 cents value).

Custom Jewelry Buying Step 3: Test the "Box" Price

When shopping for custom jewelry, beware of price add-ons, such as the box! Many customer jewelry designers will send their pretty artisan jewelry packaged in a plastic bag, a velvet pouch or another cheap packaging material. Did you want to give your custom jewelry for a gift? Then BING...you're now going to have to BUY that box for your custom jewelry- expect to pay another $6.00 for a box.

Custom Jewelry Buying Step 4: Test the "Free" Shipping

You'll want to know if shipping is really free when buying custom jewelry. Most custom jewelry designers will offer free shipping via first class mail, a cost of about $2.50 for the jewelry designer. With this free shipping, you cannot track your custom jewelry order, your jewelry is sent in a cheap envelope wrapped inside a plastic bag or velvet pouch. You got free shipping- but did you get your custom jewelry? Get insured shipping via UPS, Priority Mail, FedEx, or Express Mail. You spent your valuable time designing your custom jewelry- now make sure it arrives safely and on time!
